It’s time to Jam!
In the series’ third and final class, Manny Escobar and Tina B. join participants in listening to the recordings of well-known artists and identify traditional jazz elements in their music. Through this listening session, participants will learn to play short excerpts from those recordings to create short compositions, focusing on the balance of playing what one knows and creating something fresh.
This session will conclude with a jazz jam session with peers encompassing collaborative improv, listening, and responding with an ensemble and spontaneous musical creation. No experience required but please bring your own instrument or noise-making device to jam.
Location: Co-Creative Center at 137 Union Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Street parking around the Co-Creative Center is FREE after 6PM. The Zeiterion Parking Garage is also a block away.

Originally from Washington, DC, T. Blair Taylor, relocated to New Bedford in the fall of 2022, accepting the position of Director of Education at The Z. However, Blair has a long history with the stage. Using the stage name, “TinaB.”, she has trained under vocal coach, Eric Arceneaux of the popular AApproach and has been a certified AApproach instructor since 2009. In 2008, Tina B. was one third of a Washington, DC based R&B group, releasing several singles before releasing her solo debut ‘Pretty Monster’ in 2011, a work that received the attention of Grammy award-winning songstress, Jill Scott. Her desire for music inspired her to switch careers, focusing on modern vocal pedagogy and arts education. She served as the Assistant Vocal Director at the Maryland Performing arts Center in Severna Park, MD from 2012-2015 and the Vocal Director of the SEED Falcon Theatre (SEED School of Washington, DC) in Washington, DC from 2015 until her move to New Bedford.
