A Lifetime of learning

Explore your curiosity! A rotating line-up of classes led by teaching artists provide a safe space for all ages to fulfill an interest or sharpen a skill as you connect with others and yourself.

To meet the needs and desires of the multiple communities represented in Greater New Beford, The Z offers a variety of performing arts programs – oftentimes in areas of the city that may not otherwise access the performing arts. We strive to provide experiences that remove the barrier of cost and are produced in collaboration with community partners. These interactive educational experiences include concerts, discussions, classes, screenings, college fairs, and more! One of these programs is SuperART, a free 11-week program for young people ages 10-14 in collaboration with North Star Learning Centers. Participants work with a comic book illustrator and playback theatre teacher to identify their superpowers and how they can use them to actualize real transformation in their community, growing their social, emotional, and artistic skills in the process.

The Z’s Teen Ambassador program for the 2024/25 season is on pause while we renovate our building. We are in the process of building new apprenticeship and internship programs that will focus on college and career readiness when we reopen. In the meantime, we encourage you to join us for our Mobile Creative Classroom and other education and community events!
