“It’s really the live shows that take DakhaBrakha beyond mere curiosity to utter brilliance.” – NPR

Experience the mesmerizing sounds of DakhaBrakha, the quartet from Kyiv, Ukraine, known for their powerful vocals, theatrical flair, and “ethno chaos” style!

DakhaBrakha blends traditional Ukrainian folk with global rhythms to create unexpected music of folk, dub, hip-hop, and more. The Rolling Stone has called it “folkdrone Bjorkpunk.”

Meaning “give/take” in the old language, DakhaBrakha are troubadours, activists and educators. While some Ukrainians are fighting on the frontlines in the war against Russia, DakhaBrakha is using a multi-city tour of the U.S. to raise awareness of their war-torn homeland and fight back, in their own way. Their performances are more than concerts; they are activism in action.

Their music is textural, layered sounds with distinctive percussive heartbeats, thumping bass lines, distorted electric guitars and influences of jazz, spoken word, rap and punk. And this chaos is a strength, allowing them to draw in strands of music that connect Ukraine with the world. Drones and beats, crimson beads and towering black lambs-wool hats all serve as a striking backdrop for an unexpected, refreshing Eastern European roots music.

With a dynamic stage presence and a sound unlike any other, DakhaBrakha creates unforgettable performances that defy genre and ignite the soul. Don’t miss this electrifying concert that brings the heartbeat of Ukraine to New Bedford in a transformative celebration of sound, spirit, and resistance.

All students must fill out the emergency contact form prior to attending class.
