ON A WINTER'S NIGHT

The brightest stars of the singer/songwriter movement in the past three decades unite for the 25th Anniversary of On A Winter’s Night! Christine Lavin, John Gorka, Patty Larkin, Cheryl Wheeler and Cliff Eberhardt have released dozens of recordings and toured steadily through the decades, with fond memories of their touring days together. The winter season is again celebrated by these beloved performers, back together by popular demand.

Christine Lavin is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/recording artist/author/videographer who has been based in New York City since 1976. Her latest album, her 24th, The Best of Christine Lavin, includes two new songs and 18 of her most popular recordings from 1983 – 2019.

From New Jersey, John Gorka is a world-renowned singer-songwriter who got his start at a neighborhood coffeehouse in eastern Pennsylvania. In addition to his 11 critically acclaimed albums, John released a collector’s edition box featuring a hi-definition DVD and companion CD called The Gypsy Life. Windham Hill also released a collection of John’s greatest hits from the label called Pure John Gorka.

Cheryl Wheeler has to be seen to be appreciated. Nothing you read and nothing you hear from her albums prepares you for how entertaining a performer she is. Her funny stories between songs reveal her talent for diversity. Each time she tells a story, it will be a little bit different, so even if you’ve heard it before, you still find yourself laughing.

Patty Larkin redefines the boundaries of folk-urban pop music with her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics. Acoustic Guitar hails her “soundscape experiments” while Rolling Stone praises her “evocative and sonic shading.” She has been described as “riveting” (Chicago Tribune), “hypnotic” (Entertainment Weekly) and a “drop-dead brilliant” performer (Performing Songwriter).

Cliff Eberhardt knew by age seven that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Cliff toured with his brother Geoff as an acoustic duo, thenmoved to Carbondale, Illinois, where he found space to develop his own voice within a vibrant and supportive music scene that included Shawn Colvin. He worked steadily on his music throughout the 80’s, doing solo gigs and studio work, and playing guitar on the road with Richie Havens, Melanie and others.
