New Bedford Symphony Orchestra presents Breaking Boundaries
A MESSAGE FROM NBSO ABOUT THE CANCELLATION:
In light of recent Coronavirus developments, and after careful consultation with our stakeholders and the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, we have made the decision to cancel our March 14th concert, Breaking Boundaries. We will attempt to reschedule the concert when circumstances permit. The health and safety of our patrons, musicians, volunteers, and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and we fully support the efforts of public health officials to control the spread of Coronavirus. For anyone who had tickets for Saturday’s concert, you may donate the tickets as a tax-deductible contribution to the NBSO, exchange them for a future concert, or request a refund by emailing email@example.com or calling the NBSO office at (508) 999-6276. We are disappointed to have to make this decision, but truly believe it is in the best interest of our community, especially for those most at risk from the virus. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these challenging times.
Anna Thorvaldsdottir: Aeriality
Ludwig van Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D Major
John Adams: Harmonielehre
Vadim Gluzman, Violin
One of the top violin players of our time, Vadim Gluzman plays Beethoven’s immortal Violin Concerto. Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir creates a mysterious, dark orchestral sound with a sense of hope. John Adams’s most popular piece, Harmonielehre (“The Study of Harmony”), has become a cornerstone in orchestral repertoire. The NBSO’s performance of the work is guaranteed to bring the house down in this program of innovative music.
In choosing your seats for this concert, please be advised that we will be using a stage extension that will cover the first 5-6 rows of seats. We are doing this to improve the acoustics of the concert hall and to allow us to increase the size of the orchestra.
