In honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, Keigwin + Company will engage audiences with a dynamic program that showcases two of Bernstein’s most iconic works, including “On the Waterfront” and “On the Town – Suite.” Originally commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director Larry Keigwin’s Waterfront & Episodes combine the company’s virtuosity with Keigwin’s keen musicality. In addition, Keigwin + Company looks forward to rounding out the program with audience favorites Love Songs (2006), a romantic and playful series of duets highlighting different aspects of love that unfolds to classics by Aretha Franklin, Roy Orbison, and Nina Simone, and Portraits (2004), intimate solos that highlight Keigwin’s unique ability to showcase each dancer’s strengths and distinct personalities.
“Mr. Keigwin’s uninhibited embrace of the theatrical is itself a form of high art.”

Let’s Make a Dance guides participants through a choreographic process with Keigwin and his dancers, using games and guided improvisation to enable individuals to discover their own creativity and physicality and transform themselves into performers. The goal for Let’s Make a Dance is to harness the group’s collective enthusiasm for dance through a combination of movement and imagination. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
