LET'S GO TO JACOB'S PILLOW!
Join fellow dance lovers on a day-long trip to Jacob’s Pillow Dance, lauded world-wide as a “hub and mecca of dance” (TIME). We’ll take a motor coach from The Z, leaving at 9:00 a.m., to the Berkshires, where we’ll enjoy several performances, a guided tour and the beautiful surroundings.
This excursion offers a mostly flexible itinerary so you can design your day!
Two ticketed performances:
2:15 p.m. Ragamala Dance Company: Awardees Ranee Ramaswamy and Aparna Ramaswamy lead this Bharatanatyam company, known its for “soulful, imaginative, and rhythmically contagious” (The New York Times) work. They share the multidisciplinary work Written in Water, featuring stunning projections and an original music composition by jazz trumpeter/maquam singer, Amir ElSaffar with Iraqi, jazz, and Carnatic instruments. 8:00 p.m. Royal Danish Ballet: Praised as “a masterclass in style,” principals and soloists of the Royal Danish Ballet return for the first time in over a decade with a program that exemplifies an impeccable mastery of the Bournonville tradition. 6:15 p.m. Inside/Out Performance: The School at Jacob’s Pillow Ballet Program performs in an outdoor amphitheatre with a panoramic view of the Berkshires Hills. Read more. Non-ticketed performance. Optional.
